    Description

St. Ignatius College Preparatory has a world-class reputation, and is building the physical space to match it. The New Learning Commons at SI will be a transformative project that re-invents the learning environment.

In the Jesuit spirit, SI seeks to send graduates into the world as men and women with and for others, who are concerned about society and the world in which they live. To keep this mission relevant, dynamic, and flexible, SI needs facilities to match the ambitions and talents of their students and faculty. The first phase of the master plan will add 142,000 gross square feet of new and remodeled flexible educational, collaborative and support spaces to enhance traditional, immersive, and project/technology-based learning. The facility, which will create a new main entrance to the campus, will be contiguous with and extend northward from the existing main academic building to create a singular, cohesive learning complex.

The main level, which will be organized around an entry hub, campus chapel, and double-height learning commons, will accommodate large SI events with direct access to outdoor terrace and garden areas as well as cafés. The upper two levels will house academic loft spaces that can be flexibly configured to accommodate varying class sizes, activities and learning styles, as well as an outdoor learning area adjacent to academic spaces on the third floor. The lower level will provide additional specialty classrooms and support functions.
