Description
In 2011, the former College of Creative Arts – of which the Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts (BECA), Music, and Theatre and Dance were a part – merged with the former College of Humanities to become the College of Liberal and Creative Arts (CLCA).
As planned, the existing Creative Arts Building (CAB) will be replaced in four phases, and the complex of four buildings will be located on two adjacent sites. SFSU retained Mark Cavagnero Associates to conduct a Site and Program Confirmation Study prior to beginning Schematic Design. The proposed Creative Arts Replacement Building, Phase 1 will occupy a portion of the Tapia Triangle site along with a future Phase 2 project currently planned as a new Center for Arts and Media (CAM).
The new building includes all of the BECA program as well as some interdisciplinary lecture space. The project is conceived as a flexible learning and production environment for teaching electronic media capture, editing and broadcast.
